Ya, from my conversations with authors not often, but an author will often pay out of contracts. But, if you are on book 3 of a well-selling series at Tor I bet you do (I don't know just guessing). Did you get any help from an editor o

I started https://shepherd.com about a year ago, so I talk to a ton of authors, and what blows me away is how no publishers do ANY marketing. This is such a weird industry and so weirdly broken. If you get a huge upfront payment

From a competition standpoint? The worry is that a merger would reduce upfront payments to authors because there is less competition (among other things). Authors like upfront payments as it reduces the risk for them. However, it is unclear

Just to mention, this is all known by people in the publishing industry... just not known outside it as heavily. IE, nobody knows what books will be huge and which won't.

Maybe rethink the core idea; why are web pages the valued part? Maybe instead, we need people to answer questions as real people... and then score/weigh/rank those answers/people. I just think Google is doing an amazing job f

No they could have won, at the very least this would go to the SC over if they have the right to subpoena over a crime outside the state, that isn't illegal in that state.

Newsletters are something you own and control. Google, FB, Twitter, and all those things are outside your control. It is so important as it is the only thing that can't really be taken away by the big guys.

I love what you are doing here! I am actually working on something similar with Shepherd.com :) I ask authors to recommend 5 books around a topic, theme, or mood. For example, here is one that Steven Pinker did on Rationality: https:/

We are using sentry.io on a per page basis to help us stay on top of it. If we were not boot strapped we would take the step to test pagespeed after each addition and before it goes to page speed, but not worth it for now.

You in no way know that, and that is a weird thing to say. Any president might have or might not, the point is you 100% do not know that.
