Could you elaborate? All connectors regardless of type have current rating and specify what wire gauges they are compatible with. It seems like it would be a big deal if a properly installed Wago could catch fire. I know that wire nuts can

I did this for several years before but it was a constant maintenance burden because as third party services were integrated or removed over time. Eventually as AWS and third-party CDN usage grew routing by subnet was just not feasible.

I built a program in Go to defeat GeoIP lock-outs for my home network. It runs on our home router and functions as the primary DNS server. If the record name matches a regex the DNS request is forwarded over a VPN to a DNS server in the tar

Have you had any lifetime issues with these? I bought a dozen and a significant number started emitting warm color while at full brightness instead of just dimmed.

I have run into this when distributing go binaries to enterprises. We also found that many of the malware vendors share their heuristic-detected signatures with each other so once one decides your binary is malware things really go downhill

I would think it's because of the different current specifications. In the UK most electrical outlets are on ring circuits that are limited to 32A - that's a whopping 7.5kW. Fuses in the plugs of specific appliances provide additi

Development and implementation of the 2G GSM standard by the ETSI gave us the global uniformity of mobile networks we still enjoy today. Cross network messaging and international roaming were solved problems in europe years before the US du

Would those intermediate releases make breaking runtime changes like dropping nashorn, removing APIs and changing default encoding modes? That’d be pretty bad behavior when maintaining backward compatibility. I know of a very large educatio

I agree, Java compatibility is much better now. For Java 9 there were also runtime breaking changes like removal of javax classes and removal of javaFX. >6 months is not really a long time for enterprise software.

The good work to slim down and better compartmentalize the JDK has historically created enough backward incompatibility risks for me that I prefer staying on the same version longer than 6 months. If I want security updates for the version

Unless housing is built and controlled by UCSC the housing will be snapped up by more of the same and not change the equation that much IMO. If growth is wanted and accepted by the majority of voters (which I don’t believe it is) then a uni

Some use-cases do require an init-providing process of some sort but you likely want to use tini. See for more details: https://github.com/krallin/tini/issues/8#issuecomment-146135...

I seem to be protected from most of these types of scams because I never answer the phone unless the number is known. If it is important they will leave a voicemail. Yes caller ID can be spoofed, but it’s not as easy as it used to be, and a

Ah looks like this was a change in 2017. With any outlet there’s no guarantee what will end up plugged in so it’s logical to require it even if the purpose is an EV charger. Thanks!

Use 6-15R or 6-20R. I think it would pass inspection because most safety requirements around gfci and afci don’t apply to 240V circuits

Maybe I am old-school but 5 times in a 9 hour drive seems unacceptably high for a potentially dangerous event. Is it incorrect to believe the car brakes at full braking force? Is there some predictor of the car making this error that makes
