It's probably over $100 this year that I spent on copywriting books, and almost that the year before. I will pay for information if it will help me, but the examples I've given is very basic information that's been written about for free so

There's a little more to it than that. If your not priced to keep users long enough to get addicted to your offering, the cost of churn and marketing spend trying to get fresh customers will kill you. There is a lot of choice out there. Eve

Pricing low has nothing to do with being rude. That statement is a major disconnect from reality. I also think that there are many service out there that are buying into this 'high pricing' doctrine and are giving prospective customers stic

Are these the same people who litter, or would walk past litter even if it was right in front of them?

By even asking such a question I think the startup life is not for you.

I was expressing a similar sentiment just yesterday: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4786923 Nobody cares what I think, but I'm going to go ahead and predict that Apple's descent will be dramatic and historical. Apple is shellshocked

If the brand is using Facebook, Facebook is in the right. It's their platform. They can do what they want. I don't understand why brands feel so entitled.

I was thinking the same. Now a growing startup on $100? That's a lot more interesting for me, maybe because I relate to it more.

But those are the ONLY people who are defending Faceplant - people with money invested in it. Everyone else is either apathetic or has left.

Speaking of decline, I think Apple is starting what will be a epic landslide of biblical proportions. Tim Cook doesn't seem to have any vision at all. The iPhone 5 is a joke. It's a cop out. Tim Cook chickened out when he merely elongated

If I was Linus I'd be miffed about the title and the prominence of the quote. It's badly taken out of context and it's a betrayal of trust. I felt kind of ripped off too when I got to that part. Again, it betrays the trust of Linus, who gav

Rejection Therapy is a great way to get over the fear of rejection. It actually makes getting rejected feel triumphant. Instead of it being something to dread, it becomes an awesome rush. For those who don't know what I'm talking about: ht

Interesting how a startup can be a success (like loosecubes) yet still fail. All the best to those involved.

What is JIRA? Sure I could google it, but when you talk all that JIRA stuff I have no idea what you mean or how much it will cost to get JIRA-fied or JIRA certified or whatever - and I am someone who may be interested in this. Democratize y

One observation: I think your pricing is off. Too expensive. I signed up anyway, but $30 /mnt is a bit rich. I'd say $9 /mnth hits the spot. Much more than that and I when it comes time to pay, many will walk. Just my .02

Patrick, isn't this like saying that since steak knives are potentially dangerous, they should be illegal to use at the dinner table? You have to admit that the upside of this is greater than the downside. Lets focus on that.

Seems like good advice when having to make weightier decisions, but when it comes to decisons of the heart, not so much. On a related note, I remember hearing about a study (this is going back almost a decade now) showing that those who liv

BTW, I wasn't referring to or including this article when I said fluff. This article wasn't bad at all, but it does remind me of the 'get 6-pack abs' story I see on the cover of every men's magazine, Every. Single. Month. There are worse of
