Not the parent but I have the Xfce AppFinder bound to the Super (Windows) key. I think I'm somewhat misusing it, but it's fast enough that I can strike Super and then immediately start typing the name of what I want. Dropped keys

Why Facebook? It can't be _that_ much safer than Twitter. Surely he's got his own website, or could make one for the ElonJet bot.

Any paint job that doesn't reflect multiple agonizingly-bright pinpoints of sunlight into my eyeballs is fine by me. Down with the flake, in with the putty. Matte finishes are the best thing to happen to cars since the assembly line.

The feds do not need every citizen to hold an ID card, even if they might be trying to convince you otherwise. Hailing this as necessary to prevent voter fraud is just as preposterous as the mark-of-the-beast nonsense covered by another chi

Using it with Gandi. I mainly like that it's no-BS, just works, is available on F-Droid, small download, dark theme, import/export for accounts and settings, lots of switches to flip in the settings should I find any of them neces

Nice. I've always been a firm believer that you haven't _really_ left a platform unless you first make a blog post loudly proclaiming that you're _definitely leaving_ but this guy takes it a few steps further by: - keeping hi

Interesting, got more info? Which corporations provide the ID card? Are retailers legally obligated to ask for it? Do retailers get fined by the gov't for every non-ID'd transaction? This _could_ be taken to mean that Tesco employ

Recently purchased a PineTime and have been very impressed. It's more comfortable than my Casio F-91W. The battery life also seems significantly better than advertised. I unboxed and charged to 100% on 13th November, and now on 21st No

Same here. Stopped after this one because I kept being told that dark patterns were correct. This site is a disservice to the entire field of UI design, not to mention the users. At the very least they could have explained _why_ de-emphasiz

Sometimes games are bugged and won't properly unlock achievements. For example achievements will work fine on Windows, but be broken in the native Linux port. The software can also re-lock achievements you've already gained, like

Fair enough. I don't believe I fall into that category though, it's not so much that I consider myself skilled enough that the safety system isn't necessary, but rather that I wish I could adjust sensitivity, because I like t

Totally fair. If (when!) the day comes, hopefully it will have been for some other reason instead of a maneuver I incorrectly thought was safe. I trust myself enough to think this will be the case.

This is fair. I do (and have) adjusted my behavior to avoid setting off the auto-brake. Mainly I did this because disabling it entirely seemed like a bad idea, despite my misgivings. Sometimes I still trigger it when reversing towards obsta

You can turn the wheel of a vehicle without being stopped. People change lanes at speed on the highway every day. Please try to assume good faith. "Turn" does not always imply a 90 degree turn with a full stop prior. I am not appr

I don't have a source, it's just what makes sense to me - which at the end of the day, is how we all drive. As far as definitions for "car length" go, I feel that "average length of an actual car" is just as op

Sure, but saying this is meaningless when we're actually talking about follow distance. Cars are different lengths. To me, a car length should simply mean the minimum safe _length_ at which to follow the car in front of you.

With the amount of semi-trucks in my area, actually yes, average length of vehicles you encounter on the road is probably close to that. I just used the term "car length" with entirely too much room for interpretation and am now g

Sure, I'm fine with admitting that. It was an inevitable misunderstanding anyway because cars are different lengths so "car length" is largely meaningless. The Subaru's adaptive cruise control system treats car lengths a

Assuming that a "car length" is always equal to the length of a car is the unsafe bit. A car length is simply the minimum safe follow distance based on weather, traffic, and speed. To my mind it has almost nothing to do with the l

One car length is way more than 15 feet to my mind, probably 40 feet or more depending on speed. See my other comments about how nuanced this entire dialog will inevitably be. Don't you think it's more reasonable to assume we have

This is an interesting point. The Subaru's adaptive cruise control system treats a "car length" as a fairly large unit of measurement. One car length seems to be the literal length of the vehicle, plus some reasonable amount

That was just one example. I've clarified my original comment, previously I was using the term "car length" in a way that did not make sense to others. I should have said "seconds of follow distance" All of this is
