A tax would also affect old homes. This proposal only affects new homes. It's really a slow phaseout. People are getting upset over nothing. You're not all buying new homes anyway.

There's this thing called a fan that's inside your furnace. If the electricity goes out - you're gonna die of cold anyway because there's no way to move the heat from the furnace through your ductwork.

I used to not really be for these bans but - the big issue that I find is that due to the gas lobby, we're not going to make progress on this front until hard hitting regulations come in. As long as you have a pipe that is being servic

HN is a very Silicon Valley focused website. $150k in SV isn’t very much at all. You get more than that even at startups as a senior engineer. New grads at FAANG will get at least that or more.

Those apartments aren’t cheap though. They’re still expensive compared to other parts of the country.

Comes with a different set of problems - tbh. The women I'm looking for need to be single and in a similar socioeconomic bracket. Those two things are basically impossible to find together.

It's a lot like that in all of SV tbh.

I don't know my current neighbors at all (I live in an apartment building with 150+ units) and I'm fine with that. However, when I was in a house... I met some. They were often the worst kind of people. The most NIMBY neolib white

Cause we have an economy that has atomized everyone to where you have to fight for your own survival - constantly. I'd love having some of my friends be my neighbors. But I had to move cross country just to find a partner because livin

The answer is no. No, it isn’t easy and no you will not get citizenship. Japan is notoriously difficult (impossible) to become a real citizen in.

I’m pretty sure they’re more okay with that than letting immigrants in. The Japanese have no interest in bringing different looking people into the country.

I can’t say I resonate with this article beyond the headline. I’m almost 33 and I’m single. Out of those years, I’ve spent over 27 of them completely single. When I say I’ve been married and had a five year relationship - it sounds quite ac

There are many other professions which have similar gender gaps. They’re not talked about because the professions aren’t growing as fast and don’t make as much money for such relatively low time investment.

Be honest. The reason you take the second candidate is because they’re easier to exploit. Jfc - I know a lot of founders personally and they’ll all say that in private. You’re online - on an anonymous forum. You’re not at risk for saying so
