Yeah but if they have this freedom (being dickish etc) then they should also be responsible for what they are publishing on their platforms. They want to have their cake and eat it.

I am guessing this is mostly related to Apple's IDFA changes. - First facebook acted to label all their products with "from facebook". - Now this privacy policy change. It even says: "showing relevant offers and ads acro

It is kind of grass is greener on the other side. If you have capitalism, you end up with communist revolution, if you have communism, you end up with capitalist system.

System is optimized not to show you things you will engage/like, but expected value: Expected value = your engagement chance x revenue from engagement This formula making it to run in more ‘exploit’ state then ‘explore

It should be PII, otherwise I can put cameras all over the city, log license plates, and sell service for you to query. I think PII according to GDPR is something you can go back to identify a person.

License plate is I guess PII. Something public doesn't stop it to be PII, like IP addresses.

It is PII under GDPR for sure.

I think I understand your point, but the system is optimised for 4 actors. Advertiser - Ad Network - Publisher - Consumer In the end it is multiplication of happiness factor for each actor optimised. It is basically explore/exploit alg

I think this is common misunderstanding. Imagine I had a free app, I was showing ads, when there was IDFA, Facebook audience network was pricing individuals, you had value $1 (for sake of argument lets say 10% chance to buy what is advertis

1. It is not data share, it is advertising identifier (idfa) you will still have access to (idfv) vendor identifier. 2. Apple apps are not exempt. (Even weather app is asking for location permission after permission change about location, t

"plummeting in profitability" this part is to be seen, to be honest my guess is it will stay around the same range (if google would join I would even guess that it would go up after this change).

This is not killing the targeted advertisement, this is only killing targeted advertisement with abuse. There are some businesses (small or big) preying on uninformed people. This is the part facebook and google were pushing to advertisers

this is about IDFA, not tracking on apps, tracking on ad networks. So still facebook can track you in facebook apps.

Ok first of all I am not saying that third parties without access to first party data will compete with google's search ad business. I think after removal of IDFA, smaller ad networks will steal some of big players mobile market share.

This is not true, any ad network benefits from IDFA, bigger the better. Removing of IDFA should close the gap between big players like Google, Facebook etc vs others.

You missed the part where you can change the server address with remote command. Basically you can change cloud server address, but it will still check for symantec root, so you need to buy EV certificate from them.
