My problem with "they" is that it's overloading the plural pronoun and using it like a singular. This can cause confusion, for example, it makes the comment we're discussing a bit hard to read when in one sentence "

Not only that but the failure case when a developer pulls before receiving the memo isn't that bad. Git tells you that the branch was force updated and working out what to do from there is usually pretty easy.

I am on Nexus 5 and had a similar experience as OP when trying the home screen replacement. A bunch of the home-screen icons were missing and when I clicked on them they opened a completely different App that wasn't even on the screen.
