I've browsed this discussion and I must miss something? You seem to imply Ruby's/Rails' speed matter? Usually, the DB is the limiting factor in most web applications, few should need to execute more than a few millisecon

I love my iPads. But where can I get something like Dark Souls for them? The console niche puts more GBytes of graphics etc into a world. You just don't do that for the iPad. Not this year and probably not the next either, anyway. (Edi

To me this looks like a Lisp variant with a large set of utility libraries. Am I missing something? Is the point the quality/volume of the support libraries?

I answered a comment which I assumed was ironic. I'd appreciate if the down voters or someone else could explain, if I misunderstood? Edit: Without your comment, I would have assumed it was for my stupid joke. Ah, never mind.

Hey, you almost got the self irony... here is half a cookie. :-) More seriously: There is a serious position to have -- identify with the process of getting your opinions _less_ wrong, not with a particular set of opinions. In fact, there

Every place has problems. E.g. Sweden is consensus oriented and has only one officially accepted opinion at a time, so much stuff just can't be discussed. This along with being a small duck pond (the elites, media etc generally know ea

Thanks for the overview, but... I am a hard line atheist anti-idealist that don't make that much difference between islamists, socialists and astrology readers. Idealists lie to themselves and others, because they mix up their self ima

There is a scary pattern with what you read about Pakistan, even criticizing politicians are targeted there. The Pakistani oppression is done by the Taliban, which works with the drug gangs in Afghanistan. Another similarity. (The main diff
