For me it’s cause there exists already perfectly capable and better ways to do these operations. I don’t need or want to work in an environment that reinvents how to map over a list. Frameworks and libraries have their own APIs like reacts

I would never use a library that invents its own DSL. We already have JS and HTML native to every browser with all the capabilities we need. React/Solid/Preact and others build off this. Alpine, Vue, Angular and company do not (x-

i) TS isn't a framework. And you don't have to use it everywhere in your system. You can decide how heavily to leverage it, developing a 'core' TS subset that powers a broader JS layer (or the opposite, or something diff

No, individuals have far less market power than institutions and businesses. Especially since health care is tied to employment. It's a privileged position if you can 'just say no' to a company that has non compete clauses -

This is minor - but Spotify doesn't support Apple's home pod/home pod minis Siri integration... This is especially disappointing as this (Siri integration) is one of the few areas Apple has opened up to 3rd party platforms! P

I think a large part of being a good engineer is similar to becoming a good writer with the key difference of being a good writer on a paper that 10 other people are also helping to write. So the challenge isn't just in developing the

Mocking a global function in a single test is not a poor solution. To your first suggestion, that requires making a private function public which I dislike. The 2nd suggestion of using dependency injection does make testing easier, but inje

I wrote something on this idea as well referring to it as Debug Driven Development[0]. Similar to TDD or Domain Driven Design (DDD) we should aim to write code that is easy to debug. Store intermediate values in a pipeline in variables, sto

Plus go code seems to embrace as short of a name for variables as possible. Have a parameter for an array of users? Call it ‘u’. Want to have a variable for a config object? Obviously call it ‘c’. ‘Idiomatic’ go code is bad code.

Music samples are a natural parallel. You cannot sample music without permission no matter how short the sample may be. Similarly you cannot steal a snippet of someone else's code without permission or the correct licensing.
