I guess this is another way to start down the path of wanting a customizable editor. VSCode is a nice UI and program but nothing compares to a truly programmable editor that lets you define any arbitrary command you can want. This is a good first step to the Vim/Emacs world which is the natural conclusion down this path of a fully customizable editor.
