This was such a thorough and entertaining writeup. Felt like art in a way. Utterly useless, but great historical reference and really funny at parts.

Even if they don't serve ads, think of the data they can share in aggregate. Think Facebook knows people? That's nothing.

I asked as a chance (a challenge even) to reframe an arbitrary situation. Even the one you mention, at this exact moment, a win/win could be framed around the benefits of stopping the war. While it's entirely reasonable to pick a

I've always found that it's about defining win/win situations. Also, you should make real human connection in the process. If you don't like the person, that's a real issue. It may not be that the person is unlikeab

Ah this is great, and I can see how that would be useful. In a way, it's just "there's a clear spec" by another path, but it's just defined by all the code you wrote.

Great post and thanks for the perspective. You have to be open minded to even try, and so that selects for only some devs. Then among the open minded, you need to be skeptical and careful, which again selects down. So the devs that are havi

The truth of it is that when I code with an LLM I scope the work up to include parts that would be a stretch for me to implement. I know what I want them to do, I know where I could find the info to write the code, but the LLM can just spit

I don't think it replaces a junior, but it raises the bar for the potential that a a junior would need to show early, for exactly the reason you mention. A junior will now need to be a potential senior. The juniors that are in trouble

yeah very few months I try to have it “just do magic” again and I re-learn the lesson. Like, I’ll just say “optimize this shader!” and plug it in blind. It doesn’t work. The only way it could is if the LLM has a testing loop itself. I guess

Once you get a sense for LLM workflow, sometimes the task is not appropriate for it and you do write by hand. In fact, most code I write is by hand. But if I want a new system and the specs are clear, it can be built up in stages that are t

The best code I've written with an LLM has been where I architect it, I guide the LLM through the scaffolding and initial proofs of different components, and then I guide it through adding features. Along the way it makes mistakes and

I dont agree here. Nvidia could simply segment the market and keep intel on the low end of gpus. I think AMD is the real target/victim here.

Mastodon shows that when a network is relieved of pressure to monetize it evolves to serve its users. Otherwise it evolves to serve the investors in the platform. It’s just that simple.

Yeah thats an interesting example! This feels like a natural process, for better or worse. Also thats the founding principle of America. If you have had enough, move and set up a new country/state/religion/homeschool group.

This is not surprising. In my circles, the people that most enthusiastically migrated away from X to Bluesky did so specifically because of their distaste for Elon Musk. They are largely centered about the West Coast of the US. And because

Well this should be provable within about 5 years if this Tylenol is truly the cause. Let's just have a few states in the US eliminate Tylenol usage during pregnancy, and watch the autism disappear. Any volunteers?

Here's a TODO hack that really helps me: If you finish a task that wasn't on your TODO list, don't fret. Just add it but don't check it off. Then when you come back to the list later, you check it off. This reminds you t

It doesn’t mean you have to be a social media star. It could mean you put out a game on itch that gets some players and comments. It could mean you have followers on ArtStation, or SoundCloud. But yeah… something.

I genuinely believe SamA has directed GPT5 to be nerfed to speedrun the bubble. Watch, he’ll let the smoking embers of the AI market cool and then reveal the next big advancement they are sitting on right now.
