I have an ACA plan and am going to take a giant hit when the tax subsidies end. At the same time, I wonder if it might be not such a bad thing. Yes, I and millions will suffer higher premium costs. Yes, many people will drop insurance or ta

I have worked with several excellent, standout programmers at video game studios that had similar qualities. I'm talking in this case about ICs, not managers or leads. - Whimsical, child like attitude. "Sure, I can do that" w

I've also noticed that fasting has a positive effect in this way. It wouldn't be too surprising for the gut to play a role in ADHD experience since it is involved in regulation of various neurotransmitters.

I wouldn’t put it past Altman to intentionally nerf GPT5 to create a negative sentiment cascade that artificially pops the bubble, then right at the correct (for OpenAI) moment, reveals their actual generational leap. The bubble in the mean

If you could plug into the inner thoughts of millions of people around the world at once, it would not be pleasant. Social media has turned out to basically be this.

For 30 years Autodesk took an increasingly larger and larger share of the 3d modeling market. Over time they became complacent and users were locked in. Prices only went up. Meanwhile Blender was the most viable free oss alternative, but it

This is sad but the US is too diverse to have a single source of public broadcasting. It was always destined to end like this.

My take has some nuance. Nothing against making an accessible 3d app. If they call it Blender Lite or Tablet Version, great. But they gave the impression it would be Blender.

Making a 3d app on tablet with touch is fine. Find the sweet spot and make the best thing for the interaction and the users. As long as they are honest with themselves and the users about what it is capable of, great. But it feels like some

This is a little bit folly IMO. A mouse and keyboard provide a less fatiguing and more precise mechanism for the type of 3D that Blender can do. What I imagine they will find is that the act of "tabletizing" Blender will force it

It’s worth asking ourselves “When was the last time I changed my mind?” It’s hard to really recall because the belief rewiring required seems to play havoc with our memory.

I would love to see the data they have on lost Airpods. They can take this strategy of continuous improvement because they can count on users needing to re-buy lost Airpods.

They are all overstaffed because they were financially incentivized to overstaff, both for valuation and defensive talent hoarding reasons. This was a positive feedback loop which unwound in tech and will unwind in AI too.

I wonder how much of the problem is the massive influx of streaming platform money to occupy talented directors, writers, and other people who make films. Why risk a Hollywood release when you can get prepaid for your work?

This would make giving them all my data so much easier for them. That is the endgame, right? OpenAI becomes the advertiser of record using the best, richest, most targeted data ever. And we gave it all to them. “Dumb Fucks” -Zuck
