Man, marketing of those tunneling services as VPNs is actually causing damage. Those services are NOT VPNs. Tailscale is very much more like a real VPN than those other things that are pretending to be VPNs.

It's probably a combination of things that exist today, that did not exist when Vine was around, which did have influencers and still failed. Tiktok started as a Chinese only service. China has restricted access to the global internet,

What have you been searching/browsing? ;) Instagram uses Facebook/Meta algorithms for serving ads, which includes behavior. I almost never post anything about diabetes in Instagram, but because many other sites (ie: reddit) use Fa

Almost no greyhound related ads. I see occasional pet related ads, but not nearly as common as bogus health supplements, diabetes related stuff (I'm diabetic), random garbage I don't care about, Amazon, and other accounts.

You can host your own and it's federated. The "fed" part makes it a portmanteau of "pixel federated". There's also multiple other hosts you can sign up to.

I don't really care about all of that. Really, I'm more of the "shouting into the void" kind of situation as I know no one cares about my postings, but I do it anyway. So Pixelfed wouldn't really change things for m

Instagram is one of the last social media platforms I use. It's mostly about my dogs. I follow mostly greyhound people. My feed is about half greyhounds and half ads. Increasing ad load from that? I guess it's time to retire my In

Used Nvidia Shield TV since the first gen until the ads started getting really bad and taking up most of the screenspace. That was a very quick way to convert me to an AppleTV user. I know you can replace the launcher on the Shield TV/

I think they're intentionally going for confusion, at this point. I can't pinpoint which gen really pushed things in a bad direction, but it existed in the 3000 series, and an LTT video from yesterday even put it on full display,

That's a really terrible attitude. Do you know why content creators use Youtube despite it being a fairly hostile place for creators? It gets views. Odysee doesn't get views. Vimeo doesn't get views. Youtube is your best chan

I would love to support creators on other platforms where it's monetization first. My issue is I primarily consume this content on my living room TV through an AppleTV 4K, so I rely on apps being available for that to access that conte

Is Nvidia getting in on the same joke USB and HDMI are? Serious question. They have a RTX 4090, RTX 4080, and RTX 4080 but less good. And now RTX 6000? What happens in 2 generations when they want to make a RTX 6090 and so on? Why are there

It's my understanding that monetized content creators get more revenue per view from a Youtube premium subscriber than they do from a free user being served ads. The split in revenue tends to show more revenue from ads, but it's i
