Oh, they wouldn't turn it down, but they would support whatever they could to prevent it from happening. It's a weird form of irrational behavior that falls under economic animosity.

Algolia was the first thing I though about when the post was made yesterday. I commented this elsewhere but I don't think Reddit wants a good search option. Users tend to repost a non-trivial amount of content/questions/etc.

Yeah, much of reddit's content is repetitive, even so much that commenters will complain about "reposts". If reddit ever built a search engine, it would need to build a graph that would cluster all these repetitive posts. Us

Even if true, what does that have to do with shelf space? Search results do not constitute the internet, and there are many more search engines than just Google.

I mean, the answer is pretty obvious. HN itself isn't a business, it's an organization's forum for a different type of revenue stream. You could argue that the entire internet (or all media, for that matter) should be run th

That's silly. Everything is limited by the scarcity of human attention spans, not just websites. Shelf space refers to the market with which someone competes, not whether people are thinking of a candy bar or finding a bathroom or a

Sure, but GP's point was that conservatives are accepting of homosexuality, despite the stats otherwise. If you're going to say that older people tend to be conservative and tend to not to use dating apps, then that forces the que

The common cold is interesting in that it's not just one virus, but a moving target of hundreds. I've always wondered if it's their diversity actually prevents any one potentially lethal strain from becoming dominant.

Yep, there are already classes of therapeutic proteins, the most notorious of which is insulin. With mRNA tech, you unlock even more intracellular proteins that were previous impossible to get through the cell wall.

Doesn't Android-enabled Chrome OS require containers to run properly? I seem to remember there being a pretty high bar (for Chromebooks anyway) of hardware requirements to be able to run android on Chrome OS machines. Even my shitty b

I disagree on the former. Destroying the environment just to get a shitty, inefficient, non-competitive payment system because you don't like the U.S. Federal Reserve isn't a good trade.

Half of all U.S. conservatives do not think homosexuality should be accepted by society [1], which presumably includes accepting homosexuality in dating apps. That's a pretty big segment of your target market to alienate. [1] https:&#
