I think it'd be hard to actually quantify the impact. Chicago's also constantly under construction, the downtown area has had major bus route redesigns with the "JUMP" routes, and that's caused a lot of congestion

Yeah, I'm mostly not a fan, now that we're a few years in. Waves of people inexperienced, untrained in shuttling people around a major metro have resulted in downtown Chicago being an utter mess compared to only a few years ago.

I agree. They also are the reason most cars now involved in an collision where one goes off are totaled. We're a lot safer, with respect to potential fatality level crashes, but minor collisions that used to be a few hundred bucks at

My buddy lived in a rather nice condo complex in Chicago, with about 100 units in it. This was literally the reason he sold his place. Any time anything was sent to him there was a 50% chance he would get it.

Shipping with prime has gotten much less appealing lately. It used to be seeing that logo meant it was coming tomorrow, or maybe the next day - now it's almost useless, as even third party sellers can show up as prime shipping. Lots

If you want to use analogies, then winning at chess would be akin to developing software, which is the same distinction I made. Learning the rules of 6 pieces vs strategically using those rules to win are different things all together.

I don't agree with that distinction. The programming part of it is still easy - even easier, I should imagine, for what you're calling the type I programmers. The only difference is, the type I's "business" is algo

"Programming" is easy. You pick a language, learn a set of rules, and over time learn how to tell the machine what you want it to do in that language fairly well. Software development is hard. Unlike many other building tasks th

I don't buy this. Lots of us are good at being excited, moving fast, when something grabs our focus. Some of us are just as excited at the quality of our "how" as we are the size and shape of the finished "what".

I don't think it's reasonable to blame homelessness on housing costs. The people that can afford a 500 dollar a month rent are not the ones on the street because it went up to 600 dollars a month. It's the people that can&#

The problem with DRM is the early internet era community wasted all of its screaming and yelling about stealing movies and MP3's, and now anytime you mention DRM in a context that matters like those, it's ignored.
