The author clarifies on-die ECC in the comment section: > So on-die ECC is a bit of a mixed-blessing. To answer the big question in the gallery, on-die ECC is not a replacement for DIMM-wide ECC. > On-die ECC is to improve the reliabi

Thank you for your good-faith replies! I'm trying to understand other perspectives on this topic. On the use of "blackbody" - I'm sure some people with little or no background in physics would certainly take offense to i

To answer your last question - IMO yes but in the US the colloquial use of the term "racism" typically refers only to white-on-____ racism, where you fill in the blank with the oppressed minority.

Do people with Master's degrees make you feel awkward? Why or why not? Do you think we should call it something else? It seems a bit racist to me to consider use of the term "Master" in a very technical and unrelated context

How do you feel about the term, "Blackbody"? E.g. Blackbody radiation. Master's degree implies a superiority to the lower degrees, clearly establishing a dominance hierarchy. Is that much different from the master/slave

I'm not being asked to behave civilly though, I'm being asked to coddle infantile behavior of thin-skinned people taking things out of context. I'd much rather have a civil discussion about substantive changes we can make to

While I'm sympathetic to the idea of being respectful of everyone, I question whether these changes make any meaningful difference at all. Was anyone offended by these terms and called for change? Or was this a preemptive move by those

IMO this has nothing at all to do with "distorted ideas of productivity and success" and everything to do with the rural vs urban lifestyle. There are plenty of similar examples like the one you gave that happen everyday here in t

Agreed. IMO an economic collapse similar or worse than the great depression is much more catastrophic than this pandemic. At least with the pandemic many people are able to make decisions to protect themselves as needed or opt to risk expos

I think you're absolutely right. Some people seem to have forgotten that the plan was never to completely stop by the spread of infection (impossible) but to slow it down so the health system isn't overwhelmed. It's a global

Hit the nail on the head. This culture has no concept of "thick skin" and interprets any nuanced position in the most unfavorable light. Then they put on a dramatic show of being offended, hurt, or outraged in hopes of accolades f

YT music is hot garbage, just awful. Discovery is a joke compared to Spotify. I've given it a few chances recently and have been sorely disappointed each time. Nice of them to offer a 3 month YT premium trial, now I know it's only

It seems the best way to do this is to move away from in-person voting. As has been demonstrated at DEFCON for years now, voting machines used in dozens of states are laughably insecure and easily tampered with. Mail-in ballots would be muc
