Similarly, the line between "model aircraft" and "aircraft" is increasingly blurred. It's a spectrum between balsa-wood-and-rubber-band-kits and $4M-predator-drone (with a 48-foot wingspan and a 675-mile range). Som

Point of clarification: Wikipedia isn't just using the photo, they are offering it up to others to use as part of their "collection of royalty-free images" (Wikimedia Commons). In a sense, they are acting as a distributor,

Regardless of where the copyright ownership falls, it is not within Wikipedia's power to make that call. David Slater claims copyright, and without a legal opinion to the contrary, they don't seem to have a leg to stand on. This s

I hated the movie for the reason listed above. Visuals were great, and acting was OK, but the book has such gravitas, and it felt low rent. My wife, who hasn't read the book, liked it.

I keep thinking what the lead-up to the last big battle would look like. (You know what I'm talking about.) It's usually set to electronica in my head. I think you could tell most of the story non-verbally: a good character actor

I'm re-reading Worm currently, and keep thinking about what an awesome HBO/Netflix series it would make. I've been waiting patiently for the end of HPMoR. Have also read Ra, but Ra (and Fine Structure) both start going off th

I was disappointed this was just logos, rather than an icon font for developers. I was expecting useful icons that aren't a part of sets like Glyphicon (databases, servers, etc.).

I don't think you can re-style a SVG with CSS if you embed it with IMG. CSS styling has to be inline with the SVG, so you can embed it directly, or you can change CSS with JS.

Additional things that struck me (in addition to my other comment on censoring university name): They give transparent pay ranges up-front. The salary game KILLS me (I can play it, but I don't like it). I had a HR person demand my curr

I found this interesting as well. I'm sure it removes biases, but it removes a data point as well. A more prestigious university tends to be more selective and reflects a history accomplishments/drive. Of course, a "good name

I was wondering the same thing, but as they just average the location from the last dropoff to the next pickup, it's almost definite that the driver "went to lunch" in the interim. I saw this trend in the two taxis I looked a

Agreed the data is interesting and the UI is pretty slick. I found the graphs to be poorly designed, both in terms of y-axis labeling and transitions (sometimes it's %, sometimes deaths/100,000, etc.), as well as things like label
