Imagine if every homeless person in SF got over their drug habit or was cured of their mental illness or physical disability or what ever other issue they had that drove them to being homeless. Then they all got stable jobs that they were g

Has anyone ever done a study on the costs/benefits of funding public defenders? Better funded public defenders, I imagine, would result in fewer and shorter prison sentences (saving money), but I guess also have some potential for an i

This could be a startup idea. I’m sure there are lots of tech companies that would pay lots of money so that their employees could master English and improve their accents.

Yeah, this is kind of a Frank Abagnale type story. He did some incredible yet dishonest and criminal things, but redeemed himself later in life. I’m sure this guy bullied a lot of people to get them to help him cheat. He spent 40 years pret

One thing you have to remember about NASA is that it’s packed with professional space nerds. You know what space nerd love? SpaceX. You know what they don’t love? Blue Origin.

Unions have also historically been pretty racist--explicitly excluding anyone who wasn't a white male. That's probably less the case today, but they're still dominated by white, socially conservative men.

The city is still giving out lots of housing. Except when the city tries to build housing, it takes many years and $800k per unit. The city has put up so many regulatory hurdles that make it almost impossible to build anything. Consider thi

Correct. I have a 401(k) that I put my own money into and choose the funds I invest in. If I leave my job, I can take that money with me. Companies should auto enroll and fund employees 401(k)s, which most don't do now. But they should

Why is your first instinct to assume unions are wholesome, benevolent actors? Unions have a long history of corruption, racism, and being associated with organized crime.

You did the right thing. It’s totally possible that they come back to you and say “alright, we’ll drop the non-compete.” Especially if the feds appear to be heading towards voiding them all anyway.

Model T wasn’t the first car. It was the first mass-market, “Everyman” car. What I’m talking about is a car that pretty much anyone who can afford a car can afford.
