I think at some point the browser will collapse back into the desktop shell as a multipurpose document viewer. Window managers will need to catch up first, though.

Phoenix is heavily inspired by Rails, and I also think some of the core contributors are the same. No reason people unfamiliar with Rails can't use/learn it, but if they are previously familiar with Rails it can be easier.

I would echo other comments suggesting you start by learning Rails, but if you really want to learn Elixir/Phoenix first I would probably start by playing with Elixir, since Phoenix obscures a lot of things (similar to Ruby/Rails)

It does always seem so divisive. I’m in the ‘enjoyed Galaxy but I think I actually prefer Sunshine’ camp. The new Mario looks really great, too, though.

This looks perfect for something I'm working on, thanks! Have been using d3 so far but have been hitting up against performance issues.

Pretty much my exact experience with it. I think I just haven't found many of the articles I have read very interesting, and I find the site a little hard to navigate.

Going purely off memory here, but I think the discussion on the mailing list went something like: Why do we include multiple text editors by default? Good point let’s just pick one for the base install. Obvious choice is Vi not Ed because m

IMO Mozilla would be wise to spend time on improving Firefox’s memory footprint and responsiveness. As it is it’s slower and more cumbersome than Chrome (at least on Linux). Some of these features are nice, sure, but perhaps they should be
