Thanks for the book. I bought it after reading some comments on here about it being motivating and have some good ideas and thoughts. I figured even if I only learn 1 thing from this, it's money well spent. Thanks!

After reading almost every single comment in this story, I have come to 1 conclusion: Geeks on Hacker News should not be giving out diet, nutrition, and fitness advice. (No one should be taking the advice anyway.) Diet, exercise, and nutrit

Initial impressions are positive. It looks feature wise (space, the other Office apps), that's comparable to Gmail for many people. I think I'll play around with it to see if it sticks. It's nice to see some competition and MSFT stepping up

The poster is correct. There is a law, I cannot remember where it is stated and where I read it, but I have heard it and I did check when I only had cable. I got all the broadcast stations in HD no less without a cable subscription using my

I do not see any issue here. They are broadcasting the Olympics when the majority of people can actually sit down and watch them instead of in the early hours of the morning when most of us are sleeping. Some people could probably DVR what

Work just bought me to experiment with one of those Android 4.0 Mini PC's with HDMI, USB, and MicroSD on them the size of a thumb drive. Just got it a few hours ago and was only around $75. I know it has Netflix, not sure what else at the m

Fellow Downcast user. Love it. Use it everyday. It's the only the only app I have paid for (I have not pirated/stolen any either) and it's nearly the only app I use on my iPhone besides NPR and Netflix on my iPad.

I've looked into these. I'm leaning towards a Geek Desk for one reason: The pedestal in the middle, does it not get in the way of your legs at all?

I have no problem with Origin. They have been good about providing nice deals. However, I do not want to manage and run multiple clients, multiple accounts across multiple websites, etc... Thus, I have chosen Steam as my choice and have stu

I think everyone I know uses, checks, updates, posts to Facebook using their mobile phone or iPad/Android tablet. Almost no one I know actually visits the website. It's been a while, but last I checked the clients for these devices don't ev

I can agree with this. I've been waiting and still am for something. I really would like to see that iPad screen on a laptop. It's 10" yes, but on the road code would be so much better. I can plug it into a monitor when at home or work.

I did not like the Dragon book either. I feel like it taught me nothing and was difficult to read and comprehend. I had to find other sources of explanation at times when I was doing this. It seemed to be more a thought and theory book if I

Thanks for the feedback. However, I work with a bunch of people all day. I don't work at home. The cool thing is my work place is nearly across the street from my apartment.

Did you track caloric intake (accurately) on a daily basis? Do you have a base line estimate of how much you burn? Eating as much as you want can be different things for different people. I know if you gave me a rib eye and eggs cooked in b

I'm confused by your statements. Are you basically saying one can eat more energy than their body burns as long as they reduce carbohydrates? From my understanding, fats are the most easily stored as body fat of the 3 macronutrients. Carbs

I agree, fat does not make you fat, but carbs will not make you fat either. Excessive calories make you fat. Excess calories from any macronutrient will make you fat, including fat. Can you please provide real studies, that do not involve T

These health posts never turn out good. It always ends up with hackers/geeks arguing how to eat, lose weight, be healthy, etc and so forth. No one agrees. There is too much arguing about what is right, wrong, can't be done, you have to eat

Right there with you. I have started doing the same thing on my iOS projects. I just keep telling myself to plow ahead and not to make it perfect. Go with my gut instinct at that time and keep on moving forward. What I also like to note to
