This series is great! You should seriously think about consolidating them into a book. Something I notice other engineers struggle with is how to properly assess performance, read heap snapshots, or even understand how to read a flamegraph

I always wondered if the rise of ds&a/leetcode style interviews often hurt these companies more than helped? You are definitely screening for a certain type of engineer when hiring this way, especially when you want to hire 10,000

If it's a well known company, I've found sites like levels [1] to be very informative and accurate. Otherwise I always just ask in the initial calls, no reason to beat around the bush. If you know what you want, you can ask what t

Interesting! I missed that last time around. I do wonder how Adobe will fare with empowered governments in the EU, UK, and US that want to thwart these types of acquisitions for big tech. Frankly I hope they succeed too. Mergers are not goo

I bet Adobe would like to back out of the deal too, they paid an extreme premium before tech took a general nosedive. I doubt Figma is worth $20 billion in todays climate.

I understand, thank you for the apology. I wasn't trying to diss Svelte at all with my comment, my question is very sincere. I use Svelte for a few local apps on my home network (board game and a music playlist selectors) but I have a

Yeah I have a little personal Svelte app from the v3 days too, basically a simple form site that I use to choose boardgames during dinner parties. It still works locally, been meaning to update it which I think will be painless as well beca

Svelte 4 was recently released (like 2 months ago), and Svelte 5 is already being primed. I wonder if these types of messaging/marketing hurt adoption? If you're looking for something stable and you see large version changes, why

I don't think part time work in SWE is common at all. Especially at Google. The 400 number is likely including product owners, business analyst, designers, etc into those numbers not strictly being SWEs (happy to be proven wrong).
