Surely the solution though is to improve signal strength everywhere so it isn't an issue. Other (admittedly smaller) countries don't have any issues with cellphone coverage.

I don't think it can just be the iPhones fault. Reception in the US seems really sketchy overall. Whatever phone you have (Just my experience). I just tried holding my Nexus One (UK) in different ways. I was able to squeeze it from 4 bars

That'd work well. As long as you make it seem like they aren't adverts. Some people just hate ads and will not click on them, even if they're the most useful tailored special offer you can imagine.

Saying that traditional media mostly dies is like saying "Since there's Youtube now, movie studios and cinemas will die off". (Yes, I get a newspaper delivered every day, and love reading it). I get the majority of my news from BBC/other TV

async tracking helps if the size of the download is large. In that case, a small stub of js is loaded, execution continues, and the large payload is downloaded async. But the tracking code is small. It's not going to make much difference at

Even in the post they once again pander to the privacy freak out crowd by noting that google analytics include some js. Someone commented that it was nice that they mentioned this, and the author responded with "We know our customers well!"

quantcast tracking code is nice, small and fast. By comparison, google tracking code is unfortunately massive . It sets a ton of cookies, which are then sent with every single request to your server. Wasting bandwidth. It's worse if

It's pretty fun though. You get a lot more time when you're forced to just think. Which means when you do get a spare moment to work, you're pretty efficient because you've already worked everything out in your head... That was my experie

I tried to use MS adcenter ( https://adcenter.microsoft.com ) to buy some more advertising. Using the latest Chrome dev channel: "The current browser is not supported. To see a list of supported browsers, see About System Requirements." MS,

I can't really smell much difference between any bathroom products. Whichever she wants to buy is fine by me. Using old spice will remind me of some of the awesome lines from the adverts, which will be a good start to the day. As long as it

I'd be VERY surprised if they're not selling a ton more old spice now. My wife is planning to buy me some just because she loves the ads.

11%? Is that all? Sorry, but I'll never 'get' the 3D hype. I didn't get it in the 80s when it was massive either. The glasses are so distracting, uncomfortable. The image is dim. The colors washed out. The 3D effects are so obvious and of

"moviegoers' craving for 3D films" I'd love to see some surveys. I do not go to any 3D viewings and go to the 2D ones instead (of which there are less), but they always seem completely packed full. So presumably I'm not alone in hating the

Don't assume everyone is like you. I do most of my 'research' by browsing in shops. I often go into places like Best Buys, Frys, looking for 'stuff I probably want'. Also most people have credit cards. Most people often don't worry about

I think most people keep the same wallet/card case/key rings etc for 5-10 years at least. So I don't see why a mobile can't survive either. I'd actually quite like a metal/leather one. And no, a case/protector just isn't the same. Do people

I think the last one is a very good point. Why not go the whole hog though and make the mainboard upgradable? The phone could just be a really nicely designed and well built 'shell' to hold the main board + display etc. Then every 2 years,
