And yet even decent HiDPI displays (I'm talking 300ppi+) are barely a thing outside of the Apple ecosystem, or affordable. Seems like everyone is okay with 20 year-old display resolutions and keep pushing instead for higher refresh rat

To each their own, but as a fellow motorcycle rider myself, I absolutely shit myself around huge trucks that won't be able to even see me.

I often call bullshit out when I see it with little regard to the consequences, because it just goes against every fiber of my being - but when I call it out, I try to show evidence as to how it's bullshit, and if possible a better way

I'm hoping they work up to the complexity of European roads eventually. Start small and iterate, y'know.

Host, not user. The host blocks it. Host has moderators the same way as Twitter does.

As evidenced by how Fediverse works (Mastodon for example); The networks actively ban bad acting networks, have very active set of moderators on each network, etc. How is this any different from centralized thing?

I checked and I have it enabled. But, I don't have a dedicated GPU, just whatever is inside of i7-14700k. Maybe it's just not up for the task?

I mean if you want police to get public support perhaps it would make sense to change the rules so that any racist highschool graduate with a superiority complex could not do 3 months of training and become a police officer. In Europe that

Sure, permanent loss of drivers license, fine. Does it need to also permanently prevent persons career opportunities though? That's the question here.

I would think that, especially in a everything-online world, this is very useful for regular people. I for sure have removed some links to embarrassing posts I made as a teen, to which I've long lost account access to, to remove manual

I'm not sure, actually. The law doesn't seem to specify, although it does say exceptions can be made, so I figure that's what happens. Estonia has also been known to deport its own citizens when they truly are a menace to our

Yes, the courts will know (and possibly also police, I'm not sure). However anyone else will get back a criminal record report that's empty. Like if you need to provide a criminal record for visa purposes, or when an employer requ

I mentioned in another comment here, but if you are in EU, the "right to be forgotten" makes it quite easy to remove results you do not like about yourself from search engines. Google for example provides a simple form to fill out

If its online newspapers then in EU we have the "right to be forgotten" which helps with those articles to be removed from search engines.

I spent 3 months in prison for getting drunk, stealing a row boat, and escaping from the police on said boat. My cellmates called me a low budget pirate. That was 10 years ago now. I've met tons of people like me who are otherwise in f

I never understood why in some countries the system never forgets - it's like they want to punish you till death, even after you already served your sentence. In Estonia, no matter how horrific the crime, your record gets wiped after 7

Well, Safari doesn't have 10 dark-pattern popups it greets you with when you first use it, before you can even type an address into the address bar. Edge does.

How do you install Firefox without using Edge? By default there is no other browser on Windows, and presumably you need a browser to visit firefox.com, no? Or you carry Firefox installer around on a USB with you?

It's so much worse now. Ever tried installing a different browser on Win11 now? Edge tries to dark pattern all your info with 10 sneaky popups when you first open it. Then on Chrome's website Edge will show a popup indicating that

I mean I would expect an ecosystem not be so fragmented to be honest. Looking at DistroWatch it seems that for every Linux user there is a Linux distro, and seems to be going that way with DE's and text editors as well. You might think

So a DE is a OS? Or why would a desktop environment be responsible for platform defaults? Wouldn't that further fragment the whole Linux ecosystem, which is, imo, ultimately why it's not a great user experience?
