And VSCode is just one of many that run on Linux. This feels like some sort of a unwritten rule that if you are making a new DE you also have to make a new text editor (ElementaryOS makes Code, KDE makes Kate, Gnome makes Gnome Text Editor)

I'm also a little confused. Cosmic is a desktop environment, but they are working on a text editor? How are these related? Or are they re-inventing all the wheels just because they can?

7 hours is still quite a bit below the 20-22 hours with MacOS though. It may seem a lot given how bad batteries are on non-apple computers, but it's still less than 1/3 of what it could be.

298MB of RAM is hardly 100%, as per this example. Slack takes up way more RAM than that.

Exactly this. The hospitals will simply say that the treatments are too expensive and that they lack the funds, and you are on your own. In fact it's so bad that even basic chemotherapy is only covered to a certain point, and if you ar

Pretty sure Finnish people jump on a ferry to get cheap booze from Estonia instead. Just like Estonians jump on a bus and get cheap booze from Latvia. Where Latvia goes however, I do not know.

I wish the availability of those treatments would trickle down regular hospitals in non-US countries as well. I keep reading about all this amazing work being done, and yet my local hospitals in Estonia most likely haven't heard of the

One could argue it's our constant complaining that leads to things such as proper minimum wage (that actually gets increased almost yearly), 1 month per year vacations that are defined as human rights that employers can't take awa

So now you are suddenly talking about the EU? I thought we were talking about Europe. Europe is not the same as European Union, and Europe is in fact more than double the population of U.S. Germany, being one of the most backwards countries

Well firstly there's about 2x more Europeans than Americans by population, and secondly 44% of Americans don't even own a passport.

And yet Europeans have vastly higher life quality than Americans ... I wonder why that is ...

I have found the overall design aesthetic and user experience to be tremendously worse on Android however, and with a lot more ad-riddled apps.

By viruses I don't only mean them in the classical sense, but also apps that steal your data, apps that mislead you, apps riddled with ads everywhere. That's the future if you want app stores with no oversight, and you will have a

To be fair, the upcoming KDE release cleans up a lot of my UI annoyances (like having frames within frames), so it is definitely getting better.

Fair enough. I guess I'm just conditioned to see that almost nobody cares about accessibility and so I'm just happy to see a win no matter how small.

So? What does this comparison add to the table? Is it somehow bad to create the same thing for a different platform? Did you also write on Google Chrome thread when it launched "4 years after Firefox"? It just sounds demeaning. I

The problem is that while experienced software engineers probably do know how, and would even like to, management never approves enough time for doing so, and so here we are.
