Well yes, EU/Europe is a collection of many independent countries, unlike U.S which is one country. And you can't work in a country as an employee without having a residence permit in that country. The comparison to U.S here makes

You pay income tax based on where you live though. So I can earn money from Germany, but if I live in Estonia, my taxes go to Estonia. Most remote workers I know are set up as LLC's, and they simply invoice their clients for the work,

Most of the remote jobs I see from Germany also hire only those who live in Germany, so it seems to me that Germans don't even want EU citizens, just Germans.

It's bad in Europe as well. Spotify let lots of people go last year, Pitch recently fired 2/3 of their staff. Glovo, Veriff, Xolo are just a few others I heard about, but I'm sure it's a hell of a lot more. I'm thin

I opened my Wise account in 20 minutes. The ID verification is all automated so it's really quick. I haven't heard of anyone who is unbanked before though, what would be a reason for that?

Wise (previously Transferwise) can do international transfer within seconds. If you're in Europe then payments between any bank in Europe take seconds (SEPA payments).

Having horrible time management in a company eat your work time and forcing you to work overtime seems like such an american thing, and something I have not heard of in Europe (probably because it would be illegal). And firing me for not do

I thought it was common knowledge that politicians are crooks. There's even information out there on politicians trading patterns, and how they very often seem to buy or sell certain stock right before a huge news affecting that stock

I have a 16GB MacBook Pro (M2 Pro chip), and my Linux PC (I don't use Windows) runs a lot smoother than my MacBook does for programming tasks such as running IntelliJ / Android Studio / bunch of docker vm's.

16GB really isn't enough these days. I put 64 GB in my machine for as little as 200 EUR. How much would that cost in Apple land? Extra 1000?

Oddly I haven't yet needed to work offline in my 12 year career as a software dev. But then again it's not common for internet to go away where I live.

I'm mostly interested in upgradeability and the cost of parts. With Macs I'll just have to buy totally new Macs every time to upgrade, but with a PC I can swap out RAM, SSD, GPU, etc however I want for a fraction of the price that

The M series macbooks are amazing machines. I don't want to take away from them at all, but I recently realized I can get the same power that a 3k Macbook pro has with about 1k when I build my own PC (excluding the screen), and with it

From what I understood Apple will allow third-party app stores soon due to EU regulations, and is already (reportedly) in process of making that happen.

The examples you just created are unidiomatic Clojure. Is that supposed to somehow convince me? I have yet to see anyone actually use `while` in Clojure, and redeclaring `def`'s is also not something I've actually ever seen, despi

This sounds very bitter. Also, having worked in multiple places where Clojure is the main language, I don't agree at all. Most places make their own coding rules / standards, enforce them with linters and custom formatter rules.

Not just Finland, Liero was big in Estonia, too! I remember I got Liero on a floppy disk from a friend early 00's and ran it on my Win98. Good ol' days. Terep2 was another great game.
