I second this. Don't be swayed by what you see and read in the media. Silicon Valley isn't a place for everyone and can be incredibly stressful. On the bright side, it's a very diverse place with tons of stuff to do, great we

I think most level headed people would accept the fact that there is sexism (botth men and women). I think the author is trying to say that sexism against men is passe. There is a tremendous amount of hue and cry over women's sexism ve

Maybe I'm in the minority with my opinion. This is pretty common in most startups in Silicon Valley (it is true in the one I'm working for currently). You usually have an option of getting a less pay, more equity or higher pay, le

True, they aren't obligated. Another thing to note is that most executives get paid with equity more than cash. So it is in their self interest to have the stock stay steady or go up and not take a nose dive.

At the right age absolutely. When I say big bad place I mean make them street smart. If they still believe in fairy tales, santa, etc. and believe that life ahead is a bed of roses, it's so easy to fall off the wagon.

You're so right. I don't want to raise them to live in a fantasy bubble (when I have kids, that is). The world is a big bad place; I'd rather prepare them, than shield them. Not to sound disrespectful to differing opinions,

I think people need to take a good hard look at where the society in general is heading. I've heard from older folks that they used to be "disciplined" by parents and teachers alike in the 50's, 60's and 70's (
