I found it easier to have a neutral accent (I'm Indian) rather than an "Americanized" accent (which let's face it, sounds really stupid/annoying if you've moved to the US after the age of 22, I'm looking a

I totally agree. All this "connectedness" is BS, there is no substitute for meeting someone in real. It's a massive problem in the western world where there are loose family/friend connections in the first place, and on

I'm sure you must have heard "ya'll" in Houston?

That's true, I've lived in Texas and now California. The accents vary a lot, even within Texas, DFW, South Texas, Austin have slightly varied accents; the only thing in common is when Texans say "ya'll"

Great article! I changed my sleep habits about a couple of years ago, almost given up coffee, eat healthy and exercise regularly. I rarely ever feel grumpy or tired in the morning and a lot of that is attributed to 7+ hrs of peaceful sleep.

I've never understood it either apart from the initial euphoria of it being "something that hardcore Linux fans use". I'm not dissing it either. We should use any editor that we are comfortable with, if it's vim or something else. If your c

> God is dead You obviously don't live in the south, do you? ;) It's sad to hear what Gates has to say. Unfortunately market and monetary pressures are the pitfalls of a pure capitalistic society where humanity takes a back seat.

For knowledge workers, what constitutes as productivity? Is it completion of tasks in time? If yes, then why does it matter where you work as long as you get it done? Also the solutions to problems you are working on, hardly ever strike you

That's a $16.7 trillion dollar (and ever growing) question.... I don't know, it certainly should be a collective effort, but looking at Congress I don't have much hope.

America needs a societal change. You cannot have a celebrity obsessed, self-serving, lazy, first-world problems obsessed, narcissistic society and believe that all the problems can be solved. I'm obviously making a rash generalization but h

Sure not everyone can or should become a programmer/software engineer. But you would expect a progressive forward thinking society like the United States, who has pioneered most of the technological advances in the 20th century to have a st

A few years ago I would sympathize with that; but look, the rules are what they are. When you and I got our H1B, we knew (or should know) what the rules are w.r.t. becoming a permanent resident. If you put all your eggs in one basket, knowi

There is always a demand for software engineers/designers/programmers. According to recent reports there are 3 million open tech jobs in the US. Assuming a pessimistic 50% variation in that number, you still have 1.5 million jobs. The popul

But compare the number of undergraduate American students in STEM vs number of students in BBA/pre-med/law/dance/arts/humanities? There in lies the problem.
