Seriously surprised that the article didn't mention Iraq buying 4,000 PlayStation 2's in the year 2000. I think Saddam was doing some supercomputing. https://www.theregister.co.uk/2000/12/19/iraq_buy

Looks fantastic. I already use Hugo for some other things. I'll keep an eye on this for documentation in some future projects.

Right. I was really feeling the call to action in the blog post until I tried to visit beta.cliqz.com and realized it was blocked by the filters I'm using in uBlock Origin and by the DNS-level adblocking I have on my network. Hmmm.

Hmm, cliqz.com is in the blocklists of several DNS servers I'm using, so are they the underdogs we need to cheer for against Google et al, or are they some shady spammers as determined by the community of adblock list maintainers?

It's actually ELRepo, which is community run, not EPEL, which is semi officially run by Red Hat. But yes, very impressive you can get latest stable and long term kernels on CentOS!

You should specify the full path to the real "pass" when you configure the browser extension. This is a very common problem—with a known solution—in shell scripts since forever.

Sure, but the Signal source code is open source. I've been compiling it myself for years on Android (and signing the binary with my own key). They can't silently push a binary from the Play Store and overwrite my binary.

Sadly it boils down to "trust us" (or really, trust wcathcart), which is a position users have been betrayed in countless times over the past decades (and Facebook has a horrible reputation for user privacy). Compare that with Sig

I'm a big proponent of using specific times and dates instead of—or in addition to—words like "tomorrow" and "next week." It makes your email easier to understand if you are looking at it any in your email archives
