Did you have a separate build machine, preferably that built automatically on every checkin, so there was a canonical "it's broken here, but not there" point? (Not that this avoids this problem, it's just - in my experience - it makes it ea

The other scary thing is this isn't based on decompilation and analysis of the instructions. It's based on Notepad. Which implies that Rockstar not only used the crack, they didn't even verify what the crack changed in their binary (otherwi

My guess, on no basis apart from outside knowledge of some other game developer build systems, is that they couldn't actually build this game any more. I bet either their build system fell apart from disuse, or the one person who understood

Does anyone know what startup times are like for apps using these bindings? When I tried CocoaTouch, admittedly several years ago, "Hello World" applications took ~10 seconds to launch (I lost count of the 'number of bounces'.) I think that

"If I had a clunkier technology in front of me, I might learn more about programming" This article seems to pursue an odd dichotomy, that the platform can either be openable or slick - never both. Surely those two aren't completely mutually

There was a company a couple of years ago that did outsourced bulk film scanning. You basically sent them your film en masse, they sent it to India and had it scanned there, and then sent you back the film and the scans. Couldn't find them

I used to have a second hand Minolta Scan Dual IV, which is a dedicated 35mm scanner. I've since started shooting 35mm & medium format, and I sold the Minolta and bought an Epson V700, which is a flatbed. I also used an Epson 4490 while

Yeah. I've heard "clicking the shutter like crazy, trying to get the right shot" referred to as "spray and pray", though. ;)

I shoot film (as an amateur) by choice (sold my DSLR last year), but I still scan all of it, so every now and again it still gets tempting to give it the PS treatment..

More than not multitouch, it's a resistive (rather than capacitive) touch screen, so you can only reliably use it with a stylus (which is included.) Which is a bit of a downer, cos I was thinking of getting one to mount one in my car. Also,

I thought you sounded a bit like me in the OP. :). From the vague amount of pop psychology that I know, the "two different guys" is the hallmark of an introverted personality, and totally common. Although I think the amount of difference va

Is it possible that the actual problem is fear of failure, and/or fear of mediocrity, rather than shyness per se? When you meet new people, do you show them a different you, one who doesn't write songs or think about writing apps or startin

Small bug report (assuming this is your mashup): clicking on the "zone" nodes in Chrome centres them but doesn't pop up the screengrabs. Works in Firefox though. 10 clicks in, first penis sighting. Sigh.

I thought this was a really interesting idea. In uni (college) I became pretty dependent on Mind Maps (using FreeMind) for planning essays. Laying all the relevant concepts and relationships out visually worked really well for me. From that

I gotta say, the tone of this almost turned me off. I got an impression of mouth-foamy vehemence in some of those paragraphs, and it was a little off-putting. However, you're entirely right. It's going to be really interesting to see how th

I don't really see how this is surprising. In fact, the fact that non-paid contributions to the kernel is as high as 25% surprises me. A criticism of Linux is that the kernel is largely developed on behalf of companies who care about certai

I didn't put this in the blog post, but hypothetically speaking you would not even need a worm. A person would need an ISP account where you don't get limited on uploads (like Internode, or most non-Australian ISPs, for instance.) A person
