Tools exist to view architectural spaces in the same way a headset can without a headset? I'm slightly confused. Or maybe you think a headset doesn't add anything to the experience of viewing a space. If so, I'd have to ask w

It's not "rendering" with gaussian splats. It's more "training" (or "fitting"). And not knowing how much the usage vs compute ratio is, I would hesitate to comment. But knowing a little bit about gaus

I don't care how many people want it. I personally never claimed it was going to be a huge mass market thing. It's big enough to be sustainable. Stupid claims by people trying to pump investment hype have no bearing on my interest

They've relented on that now. There's a (somewhat limited) API for camera access.

It's just another way to record a time and place. No more different to a video than a video is to a photo. Just slightly more fidelity. It's a good thing. It's a nice thing. Chill. I get that there's reasons to be angry

I've got used to immediately checking availability. In this case - iPhone app is US + Canada only and the website is invite only. Going back to sleep. Wake me up when it's available to me.

For general purpose computing - yes. For a thermostat, with presumably an attack surface that could be made arbitrarily small (albeit by removing non essential features) -why? Surely this means all embedded devices are a serious liability?

From my perspective that means "the entire US". I don't live there and I have no idea how to not break this law.

Between this and the UK Online Safety Bill, how are people meant to keep track? Launch a small website and commit a felony in 7 states and 13 countries. I wouldn't have known about the Mississippi bill unless I'd read this. How ar

Maybe the idea is that developers can release standalone versions of their Roblox games and escape the platform lock-in? Of course - whether their audience will come with them is a different question.

The left/right brain thing is pseudo-science and even worse - a false dichotomy. It's much more about cultural snobbery and cultural tribalism around which pursuits are regarded as "more worthy". Look up C.P. Snow's

There's Github issues mentioning windows so someone is trying to build it. But yeah - I need to bounce between multiple OS so I avoid tools that don't run on all major desktop platforms.
