IIUC, the microwave bursts are extremely directional, so you can’t really monitor for this effectively. Similarly, it’s bit unrealistic to cover the entire embassy in thick steel (and have no windows).

Some of my favorite restaurants have a "tipping not allowed" policy, and servers draw a hard line. I like this policy a lot, and don't mind paying extra. Unfortunately, the way many restaurants choose to manifest this is via

Taxes select for income brackets, not people. Consider your example: 1mm is an average . You need about 300k/yr to be in the top 1%. So you make it a marginal tax on income above 300k? To actually collect 10% more taxes from that grou

Fish are amazing, but do you really think they are SMART? In my experience, fish are incredibly stupid and wholly reliant on instinct. I suppose instincts can seem like intelligence sometimes, but if put into the wrong situation, fish will

I think both you and the parent have missed the point. The word “loser” is not the colloquial use of the term, and there is no “winner” (despite the confusing quotations above). Here it simply means loser in the economic sense — they produc

No billionaire is just sitting on their money. It’s certainly tied up in assets or being actively managed. I don’t see in what universe a wealth tax could be effective, given that people can simply move. Wouldn’t it just cause large-scale c

Exactly. The US has one of the most progressive tax systems in the world. It hasn’t magically solved the wealth gap. Many people just want to punish the ultra wealthy, but it also won’t help. If it’s actually about raising revenue, you will

Not sure about the US, but Canada had such a mixed cellular & push-to-talk network in the 90s called MIKE, and it was quite popular in some industries (e.g. trades). I don’t think it was actually a walk-in-talkie, but the user experienc
