Nausea, headaches, (and a bad experience) can be caused by things like low resolution and low (max) framerates, for example. Software cannot do anything about those issues.

The cable companies won't do itemizing since they make money off people that don't watch channels they don't watch. Also if you look at the graph in the article, the broadcasting portion of the cable bill is relatively small.

You mean AOSP, Android has a completely different meaning and expectations in general use. Apart from apps that need the Play Services, lack of the Play Store is the biggest issue with shipping AOSP. That's why they forcibly bundle it
