I had exactly this same experience with Vercel, and we backed out of using them for our major open source repo as a result.

AccessKit looks great, and I'm thrilled to see a working integration for it. Egui is an awesome tool for building quick-and-dirty GUIs: we use it at work for our game's developer tools.

Totally fine for simple game menus, but heavy on boilerplate. It needs more widgets, the data flow needs some love, and text rendering is so-so. We're steadily improving it though, and every release it really does get better.

So, I'm currently part of a team making a Real Commercial Video Game in Bevy. The stability issues aren't bad: it's half a day of work fixing compiler errors every 3 months, even on a massive project. The Rust compiler (and t

Another maintainer: very aware of it, Foresight Mining Software Company is a major force in the ecosystem and makes CAD tools! We try to be responsive to the needs of those communities (robotics, CAD, GIS, scientific simulation...), but foc

Hi! I'm one of the four formal maintainers of Bevy. I'm not particularly interested in convincing you personally, but I think it's important to publicly address some misunderstandings. The scheduling rework that you're c

Programming languages have a large amount of irreducible complexity. A page long spec for a language more complex than Brainfuck cannot represent the critical distinctions correctly. Without that clarity, you end up with incompatible, spec-

I'm leading our docs effort, and work on a much expanded version of the official book is in progress (and should be launched for 0.8). These are absolutely reasonable concerns, and a centralized, first-part introduction to the core c

The largest "game" that I'm aware of is a piece of closed source CAD software [0]. They've been thrilled with the performance and ergonomics of the code, although they're relying on egui [1] for the UI. As to scale,

It would be a full rewrite, so moderately easier than writing it from scratch. The main advantages right now would probably be improved performance, better cross-platform support and access to a wide collection of interoperable community pl

I definitely agree that performance is really not the thing that hobbyist game developers need. However, hobbyist game devs aren't (our only) target market. Right now, the team who is seeing the most success with Bevy are actually buil

Fundamentally, Bevy prioritizes different things than many of its competitors, and is actively experimenting in all of its domains. Some of the larger distinctions: - Everything lives in the ECS - The ECS is incredibly ergonomic: basically

So, I'm not Cart, but I'm a major contributor. My vision for this is as both an entrant and a logic-backend for GUI. In terms of use cases, I expect that: games > servers > scientific simulation > pure GUI, but all four a

Honestly, if you're working within a well-architected framework, writing Rust is genuinely a joy (except perhaps async). The painful challenges of "how do I design something that plays nice with the borrow checker" can be sol

You're not alone: the Bevy community's been exploring this too, both on the application side and the ECS-innovation side. The query caching is a neat trick that learns directly from DB's. Some of our most anticipated planned
