Battlefield V likes as much CPU power as it can get. But it also likes GPU... There is a free to play game Armored Warfare (crysis engine?), which I genuinely used to test stability of my cpu. 8 threads fully loaded and probably with some f

Actor model is good for parallelisation. Each Actor and its message queue can be processed separately from everything else. There should be no side effects except new messages sent or new actors spawned. So a pool of worker actors can absol

Staganting indeed. I was under impression things were going up since move to new faster engine. Pretty sure android firefox should be going up. I'm not helping things by having the stats reporting turned off as a first thing.

Came here to react on first words in article too. Netscape lost. Original Opera lost. IE lost. Edge lost. As in killed off by creators and no new work is done on it. Mozilla Firefox at this point is going strong and growing. It is a better

What I would like to see, is fewer wires. Was tidiying up behind my desk with 3 monitors on. Rear is just a spiderweb of power cables, display cables, usb cables for all accessories, usb extensions to power monitor ports, audio cables to sp

Abundance, same as overproduction, causes prices to fall and profit to shrink. If energy is scarce, prices stay high. If energy is abundant, they invent cryptocurrency mining and carbon capture to keep demand high. Curious that you brought

Thats one issue I have with these proposed programming tasks. You are not going to write a really great text editor as a learning exercise. It has been done by better programmers who had better overview of the problems and over thousands ma

Similar for me. Track has to be something very familiar and with a steady rhytm. Task has to be something semi-mechanical, like implementing an idea in code with no additional thinking required. Haven't been diagnosed, but attention sp

Useless, strictly academic interest. There is more than execution ports in design of processors. Not every task can be SIMD optimized to extent of approaching theoretical IPC limits, most will be bottlenecked by memory access or even IO. I

Have used Parl at its height. After studying Java and C courses Per felt like a language I can finally do something useful without boilerplate. And for simple text processing it was fast enough. But then codebase grew... Switched to Python

So far there was no reason to fire for that. The only bad period was where AMD Opteron gained a big market share in servers while Intel was doing Pentium 4 Netburst crap.

This IS a worstation segment which likes cores. But also Zen 2 core at 4.5 GHz is faster than Skylake core at 4.5GHz (about the peak boost in Intel HEDT) also in single threaded tasks.

Not a huge secret that they have a 64-core Threadripper 3990x ready to go. But also no hurry to release it, as even the 24 core wipes the floor with anything Intel has to offer.

Ryzen 3900X (and probably 3950X) would agressively limit all core boost to fit in the TDP. A Threadripper with a higher TDP limit (and better cooling) will be able to boost all core to same levels as single core, ideal for workstation workl

Why deprecate and replace something that a) works b) doesn't have any immediate problems c) is familiar to everyone and their granny with something with less functionality and even less logic on where to look for a particular setting?
