Do you know how Media Player Classic solved the same problem? I definitely remember the struggle with codec packs, then a breth of fresh air when ffmpeg codecs would solve most formats, and then just like that forgetting all codec issues by

I go by hypermiler advice, optimize distance traveled by car. Choose spot closest to entry-exit path of car park. Park closer to exit, and so that you don't need to reverse out, minimize inefficient slow/idle movement with cold en

But at least they show early that they missed the point and let you catch it early and explain better. Instead of politely listening and after you finish ask what does the first thing (vital to understanding the whole speech) even mean.

You touched on an important point, mentors. Someone who can spend 10-30 minutes per day with you, going over what you coded and giving tips and best practises saves A LOT of time.

Illumina has been stuck at 1000$ per human genome for a while. New methods are already here, long read sequencing direct from source with minimal preparation [0]. It doesn't say much about cost, but considering reduced preparation step

Part chip design, part 7nm being unexpectedly good. But the chiplet architecture, supported by fast Infinity Fabric interconnect is what puts AMD ahead. Intel will have to go same route to stay competitive. And now they are two steps behind

Am I reading it wrong? Tl208 to Pb is beta decay, there are no gamma particles involved. I would think the 2.6 MeV energy listed is for the electron emitted.

Use more energy to heat up biomass and convert it to a useful energy rich state and then ... bury it. If this is the best solution to CO2 problem, I would rather have a CO2 problem.

It is only a sink if you take carbon out of it. Else it is a closed system. For every tree growing, there is somewhere a tree rotting.

I would love to have more trees. But not for reason of sucking CO2. Please understand that forests are CO2 neutral. Any CO2 a tree consumes in its lifetime will be converted to leaves and wood and eventually fall to the ground and be conve

Things have been planned. Coal has almost run out, gas is running out (probably calculation showed it will end by 2050). So why not set a target that no fossil fuel will be burnt (and forget to mention there will be none left to burn)

Adapting to catastrophes has literally evolved for millions of years. Species that couldn't adapt to change - died. The ones that survived didn't survive because they successfully prevented a catastrophe.

You get the first dibs, don't you? If you need a diamond level dev, you must provide diamond level compensation. The article just points out that it is simpler to get that level from other sources than filtering what is on the market.
