It is possible to learn from online video, but I think its important to follow along by typing in the examples. That's the only way anything has ever "stuck" for me with video. This tends to significantly increase the time sp

I feel like its easier to get hired for a remote job if you've already worked remotely previously. See if you can whip up a few non-trivial projects of your own and build up a small portfolio, if you haven't already. Then the firs

Books can be a pretty lonely way to learn technical material. Videos, much less so but I find it can take a bit longer to grasp video content because you always have to be engaged since it is not easily scannable.

I don't really know what to say because I haven't ever dealt with heroin addiction. But it sounds like you want to turn things even though you know that you are unlikely to change as a person at this point, isn't that enough

Maybe it has to do with the fact that Western society emphasizes individualism?

Good plan. I find the same thing goes for friendships too. The more things friends have endured together, the more likely they are to stick together in the long run.

I think interpersonal relationships is one of the places where it matters most to have expectations and standards. There will be trade-offs, but at the end of the day you need to be able to add to someone's life and vice versa. This wh

As an aside, has anyone here created a Xamarin android app using material design? I was recently trying to integrate their component for the design support library, but it seemed horribly buggy.

Maybe we just eventually optimize for what will make us happy across all the various categories (looks, personality, lifestyle etc.) which is "good enough" for lack of a better term.

You likely know yourself a lot better now too, so the people you choose to build relationships with would reflect the qualities you value most. People with more friends can seem to be more happy externally (perpetually busy, always invited

Also, you don't need to go about changing yourself to match someone's arbitrary ideals. If you keep trying to change things about yourself in response to what people say, you'll never be happy and you'll never run out of

I've been thinking about this lately. The common meme is that people who say "I'll be happy when I do $thing" should try to be happy in the moment rather than looking towards their next goal(s). I think we always need mi
