Question for you, sir. When folks like you and the rest of the team set about making a new programming language, is it ever with the new programmer in mind? Or is your primary purpose to fix a shortcoming in another language, and as such, y

If only enough other countries did this same thing... that there was enormous enough pressure on the usual suspects (US, UK, NZ, CA, AU) to do this too. I'm afraid we're long past the point of that happening, though, and it makes

Once a month is way too often. Even if your downtime requirements are "so high", once a month is ridiculous. For the sake of this example, let's assume you have customers that depend on your server being up, for the product&#

Everything. OS X for the primary. Linux for 99% of the VMs. Windows, when some application makes it absolutely necessary. Because I'm pretty invested in the Google ecosystem, I can move between them with ease. (using Chrome and Google

Before I comment, I want to clarify. I'm not trying to come across like a jerk. I certainly think there are things about the current system of employment that can improve. But you can negotiate what you get. I stand by the statement

I'm guessing my opinion won't be popular here, but I don't see anyone saying anything similar, so I'm going to speak up. There was once a time where unions were necessary. Personally, I think that time is long past. Now,

School isn't for everyone. If only more people realized that, and stopped confusing education with schooling, the world would be better off!! I'd check out both stuff that Mike Rowe has written/talked about. Also, James Altuc

You might also consider getting a sleep study. If you "sleep" 8-9 hours a night, and aren't rested, it's possible you're not getting good sleep, and have sleep apnea.

I have the same issue as OP, but where it concerns even learning the programming language. I've started I don't know how many times. I've made minimal progress. I'm disheartened.

What was it like having C++ be your first language? I've heard so many say that is A Bad Idea™. What was your experience? What tools would you recommend, if someone were to start there today? It seems like no matter where you choose to
