And the "more market share != winning" comment... let's add an example of that... Microsoft. Yes, they rule in the desktop space. So what? They haven't done anything to innovate in a LONG time. They lost the mobile marke

Yes, this is subjective... I realize that, so here's my opinionated response. More market share != winning. Applications for Android tablets largely still suck. Applications for iPad, are better quality in my experience - and that by a

Wow. Lost karma because I'm enthusiastic about something? Neutral, I'd understand... but downvotes? Really? I've seen even more plain and simple comments get upvotes. You folks are a fickle bunch.

I will admit that I am probably making a pretty sweeping assumption here... but I'm assuming Netflix previously had the same access as everyone else on the Internet, from Comcast - and now, they do not. They have BETTER access. To me,

Ubuntu. Hands down. None of them are perfect, but my experience with Ubuntu is that it is hands down, the most desktop-friendly distro out there. On the other hand, the "RPM hell" that is rumored to be gone in RPM-based distros, i

I've said as much to @pydanny already on Twitter, but I think it bears repeating. Piracy absolutely does exist, and it will continue. This is the ugly part of society, that some feel entitled to steal and rob others from the fruits of

I'm confused. You think that by showing your address... money is just going to fall from the sky? or are you trying to sell your seats? What's the point here?

If you use OpenSSH... you benefit from OpenBSD's work, even if you're not an OpenBSD user. SSH alone, and all the utilities that use it... have made my work/life SOOOOOO much easier. That may sound silly, but when you don

I'm in a similar situation to OP, in terms of age... but I have no real programming background. Just scripting with bash/perl. I've ditched the Apple "new shiny" for a while, and I'm going all Linux & Andro

There is an even cheaper way to do it, that I'm AMAZED doesn't get more attention. Credit by exam. The two options I used, that covered one year of school for me, in about 4 months... CLEP and DANTES. CLEP - http://cl

This question made me laugh. Seriously. I have a laptop and a desktop, each with 32GB of RAM in them. 2.1 TB of storage in the laptop, about 3TB in the desktop. Here's why I give that detail... they are both VM host machines. Host OS i

I'm getting this lesson a lot lately, from my almost-2 daughter. The things I think are important, aren't. The things I think are trivial, end up being important. I just put her to bed, and I'd like to leave the rocking chair
