I'd recommend looking into Standard Notes. Cross-platform, and mobile. I really like it. http://standardnotes.org

What kind of dev work are you doing? (if you don't mind my asking) How many employees/subs do you have?

I think part of what's missed here is the fact that Apple's products aren't just the physical things we hold in our hand. A lot of folks would buy stuff because they TRUST Apple to provide a stable and reliable product. I

You're missing the point again, completely. Your experience does not negate that of all the other folks who are reporting issues.

At current count, there are 718 people that have reported having these issues with instability on High Sierra. Are you going to dismiss all of them, as quickly as you're dismissing the person you responded to?

I disagree on the WSL part. As someone who has been trying (in earnest!) to do the macOS -> Windows switch, I have to say WSL has been a letdown. Files you create don't get proper permissions. That requires fixing, every time, if yo

Isn't there a sense in which automation, for the sake of creating something more predictable/repeatable/maintainable, is a good thing though?

If it is, it's only because someone spread $H!T to fertilize it first. It's all about tradeoffs.

I've done it. It hasn't been rosy, for sure. I talked about it here https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=15805100 . If I wasn't doing dev for Linux targets, the move wouldn't be as painful as it is. WSL a

In a pair programming situation, this is very useful. And yes, one cursor. But you can have multiple terminal sessions open on your local machine, but only be connected to one common session. That defeats the purpose of pair programming t

Yep. Steve Jobs died. There hasn't been a bulldog like him to keep things on the rails. It's just taken this long for the cracks to show. I commented on this here as well. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=15805

It would depend on location. I work from home most of the time. Comfort is king when that's the case. Shorts and a Drytek tee-shirt. When I'm going to a customer site, I'll wear a polo & khakis.

Oh, I definitely have WSL enabled, but there are enough quirks with it that it definitely doesn't help. One huge thing is that stuff you create gets set to 777. In the Windows environment, this is expected. But outside of /mnt

I know stuff happens. Let me get that out of the way. As someone who had been a Mac user for ~15 years, this is yet another example of news coming from Apple's general direction that makes me feel like Apple has stopped giving much att

I have a goal to grow my business in such a way that I can do more work on it, that in it. This is going to require more customers, and more help. Like user "inp" said about his goal, it applies here too. Perseverance and pati

I get access to code, but I have to sign an NDA beforehand, in most cases. Reputation is everything to me, so I'm not about to do something that'd abuse that trust. It's just not worth the risk.

Faster. Still an insane memory hog. I had 12 tabs open and it was up over 6GB at one point. I have LastPass, Acrobat, Grammarly, and OneTab extensions. Certainly nothing that would seem like it'd use that much memory. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Maybe FB does need regulation... I don't trust FB to do it. Obviously. I trust the government even less. There's got to be a better solution.
