What a time to be a kid. Computers and games were absolute magic . Some of us were lucky enough to have a 386 and if we squished the screen down far enough we could get a reasonable framerate. Some of us were lucky enough to have mates wit

I used a service years ago that did effectively this. PiCloud were sadly absorbed into Dropbox but before that they had exactly this model of fanning out tasks to workers transparently. They would effectively bundle your code and execute it

I have a rule not to revert migrations in production. If things have gone wrong enough that you need to rollback then there are all sorts of ways that trying to go back again could be bad news. My main worry is that I’d end up with 3 classe

Ha. Had similar once. We were running a site hosted by “mega corp” and filtering results was just broken on live. After a protracted series of forms to get error logs I realised they were silently striping the “select” from the selection_id

Golly. It’s a bit of a slap in the face to click through to A List Apart and see the header broken on mobile. It’s still so clean though after all these years.

I’m not arguing for / against any specific technology. I’m saying that relying on a lack of security flaws in one layer isn’t a great idea.

I don’t understand the downvotes here. The application should be as resistant to xss as possible but things do sneak through and we should try to limit the damage in other layers. An example is that you could think you have no xss issue

As a general rule, you really do want to set up SPF, dkim and dmarc. Without them there’s a real vulnerability there. The annoying case is when you have them correctly configured but are using ~all instead of -all so you still need to deal

Once I can replicate an issue locally, I don’t normally find it too difficult to understand what’s happening. Harder is reproducing a bug based on what I’ve got to go on in Sentry. Mostly it’s easy enough to figure out but the traces you ge
