This is not how I remember games on the Amiga. Having said that, I loved the games and graphics on the Amiga. It just felt like a beautiful visual experience.

It definitely has its place. I like to get it to grab the data, clean it up and get out into python / Postgres. I don’t like to have spreading through the codebase.

The one that she takes in particular is a school bus, in a weird kind of way. Seems that it’s run by a private company but it only services kids travelling to and from a couple of schools. But yes, it’s not like the big yellow ones the rest

It’s even worse than that - every class has a parent led WhatsApp group set up where people then regurgitate the same info into the chat. I suggested maybe a calendar instead but got the standard “it’s all too hard” responses.

As far as I can tell, someone has “digitised” the local buses by adding tracking and cashless payments to go along with the mobile app. They’ve also fragmented the services even more in the process since each bus company has their own versi

One of those is emails - the 16 notifications were push notifications through the app we have to use.

I don’t know how long ago that was so it’s hard to say “things are different now”, but my 11 year old can’t take the school bus without having a mobile app for her ticket.

It’s fairly strightforward - if you swipe down from the top right and turn on DND there are 3 dots next to it and you can customise it. In there you can put a list of people that you want notifications from.

I just checked and there are 16 messages from one school in the last 7 days. The other school have managed 11. Those are emails, containing PDFs, containing important dates, if you can find them.

In either case the boxes are a level above the riff-raff. In one case they’re at the back (but still above) and in the other they’re nearer the front on the side.

Sentry is definitely a bit heavyweight on the services. Though, it makes sense since you’re effectively running everything they run for their saas business built for a whole other scale. The trade off is that it’s far more complex than what

It’s somewhat buried in there but I’ve been using the Ianknot for near on 20 years now. It’s just a regular knot but it’s faster to tie than anything else. The key detail is to not end up with a granny knot. The way you tie your initial ov

Even if it doesn't you can start by adding the application name to the connection string and you could probably do something gnarly with triggers to write that in a table and get it pushed in the logical replication.

You’re probably hallucinating! A good planner is going to pick the best strategy however you order them, because it’s job is to give the results fastest no matter how you write the query (all things being equal). Consider that there’s a uni

I’ve done a lot of interviewing and one thing I’ve noticed is that many people are pretty confused about how joins work. They think the foreign keys put some sort of link on a parent table to let it access rows of a child table as if they w

I always enjoy how the planner explicitly calls it an anti join but for those unfamiliar with the tricks the sql looks pretty weird on first glance. Traditionally I’ve always done it as left join null but I saw a case a while back where the

This happened to me in my first job and it took me weeks to figure it out. The penny dropped and I put tape around the thin gap in the casing where the top joined to the bottom and it fixed it immediately.

I’ve described this to other programmers before. Greenfield projects are fatiguing because you still have options—too many options. Every layer is still open for you to rethink and rework. Let the hand wringing commence! As the months and

That’s not how COPY FROM works in postgres. You give it a csv and a table matching the structure and it hammers the data into the table faster than anything else can.
