What's fundamentally wrong with it? I haven't used anything else, and therefore don't have great context. Haven't felt like anything about it is horrible, though.

I'm not completely up to speed on the situation. Do we know that this happened suddenly?

For me, there are no noticeable performance problems. It boots up in about 2 seconds, search feels just as fast as Sublime. I use it every day. This is on a 2013 Macbook Air.

Regarding the testing of views: If using RSpec, there are "view" tests that test rendering the html in isolation. You specify the instance variables (AKA input) that the template is expecting, and you test the output. No server re

Was CoffeeScript the first to do this? Not aware of any other languages that do. This is one of the things I really miss when going back to JS.

That's exactly my point, so I'll turn your argument back on you. Your use case is not the same as everyone else's. All the comments here keep saying that Atom is slow. For my use case it's not, and I'd like there to

Atom does support adding ":32" when fuzzy finding, to jump to a line.

Maybe a project with 50k files isn't a good use case for Atom. I work on a large (for me) Rails app with a couple thousand files, and never experience any slowness or issues.

Other than startup time (a couple seconds), I don't notice any slowness at all. Never is there a point where I think "wish I was using Sublime, because this is slow."

On my setup, Atom isn't "very" slow. It's actually not slow at all, other than start up (which takes a couple seconds). It does use more memory, but that hasn't been an issue for me, either. The 4GB of Ram in my Mac

Great points. At least for me, though, Atom isn't slow at all. Other than start up (which takes a couple seconds), I never experience any slowness or perception of slowness. Not even while searching through a gigantic project.

The fact that he wrote this in 1968 is really amazing. How many people in 1968 would not have felt compelled to respond to the girl in a compassionate way?

Sympathy may have been a poor choice of word. What I meant was: accounting considerations should not have any bearing on how companies treat employees. Especially when the 'accounting' is not something that actually affects the mo

We should have no sympathy for 'balance sheet' or accounting reasons for anything. Regardless of how much vacation time is on the books as a liability, the company's cash flows are exactly the same.
