Well written article. With Rails, though, you don't need to worry about any of this. Just define your modules and add controllers/services/directives/whatever to them as needed using as many files as you want, and it jus

I also made a gem for rails called Emcee that does inlining and concatenation: http://github.com/ahuth/emcee . It also let's you use CoffeeScript or SASS (or anything else that Sprockets recognizes).

For anyone using Rails, I've made a gem which integrates Web components seamlessly into the asset pipeline. This gives you two things: 1. In production, all imports get concatenation into 1 HTML import. 2. Any web component can use ass

Why would the leak cause major portions of the engine to need to be rewritten? Seems more likely that it was a convenient excuse.

I reject that I said they had it coming. My point is that re-securing their network does not seems like a financial damage to me. If they had known about their vulnerability beforehand, I'm sure they would've spent the time and mo

Obviously they should've spent the time to secure their network before hand! Also, can't say I buy the hypothetical piracy cost. Does anyone have any examples of other engines copying Source features from the source code?

Can't say I'm convinced. They probably wish they'd spent that money securing their network before this happened... Also, who else had access to their network? This kid getting caught may have saved Valve from other breaches..

I'm not condoning breaking into the network and stealing source code, but what financial damage did this cause to Valve? The article repeatedly refers to financial damages, but I'm not sure how that is.

I try not to let stuff like this get me upset, because you can never fix people. Now I just need to keep working on having a positive outlook while realizing that there are a ton of terrible people out there. Of course, Chahal (and most ter

Not only does it look great, but the logic is sound as well - the homepage is to get new users interested in it, and to get them up and running with it as easily as possible. It really shows that the author did his or her homework. The anal

I disagree. Haskell is unfamiliar, AND it's difficult. They're separate. In any case, I'm definitely not smart enough to use it. The issue isn't functional programming, though, which is why Elixir looks very interesting.

The point is valid and one I hadn't thought of: would employees be truthful knowing that what they say will be reported to the company? I like to think that I would, but none of us know how we would react until put in that situation.

That was just a snarky remark, and I have nothing to back it up. I should have instead stated my opinion that people's priorities and incentives change as more money/pressure get involved.

AngularJS may be complicated to learn, but I found it so much easier than the alternatives (Ember and Backbone). To be fair, though, Backbone isn't trying to do as much as Angular. And Ember is just crazy. I Know people swear by it,
