Interesting. Actually most of the dependencies come from the embedded presentation on speakerdeck. Something to consider. Amazon (AWS) is where the site is hosted (S3 + CloudFront, mostly) so that's understandable.

But I mostly disagree with that math also ;) Mostly, because that math is subject to other parameters that are not easy to know statically --otherwise, why aren't them Postgres defaults? For example: shared_buffers is 1/4 of RAM a

Indeed. This is pretty much part of what it will be coming in the next iteration. What we're thinking is providing a set of "cards", where each card contains a theme: logging tuning, memory parameters, autovacuum, etc. And th

I beg to disagree ;) Postgres performance with the default configuration could be significantly slower (30-40%, sometimes more than 100%) than a properly tuned configuration. It is quite important and one of the main recommendations and job

We don't believe much in such static tuning recommendations. Our experience tells us that they can do as much good as bad. It is much more important to understand and learn a bit about how to tune them. You need to understand the workl

As I mentioned on a comment above ( https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22115752 ) it doesn't really require the WAL but rather the logical decoding stream. This is offered by some of the PostgreSQL-aaS.

Great. May you ellaborate on the BYO concept? How do you bring it? Or you will just ask Postgres owners to install an agent which will then connect from customers' premises to your middleware? BTW hosting your own Postgres service is a

Just a quick precision, if I'm not mistaken: this project is not decoding the (version, architecture dependent) WAL stream as it seems to be implied by https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22114603 But it rather uses l

Scottish can do a referendum by themselves because that's allowed by their laws, and goes back to historical reasons. In Spain, the Constitution does not allow for a part of Spain to decide secession. It's very different stories.

I think you read me wrong. I'm not denying that cultural reasons might be valid to support secession. I'm saying that having a different culture or language does not imply that you want or need to secede. Indeed, in my opinion,

There are many alleged reasons why some people from Catalonia want to secede from Spain. They all probably boil down to the perspective that they are a "rich" region and they will do better on their own. Similar to Brexit. Probabl
