This is nice if you can afford to have atomic clocks in your data centers and whole infrastructure teams working on keeping your clocks in sync (read: if you are Google) but otherwise you're probably gonna have a bad time.

Yeah it's weird, at my dispensary in WA they do have some setup where you can pay with a (debit) card but in addition to a $3 service fee they also for some reason have to round up to the nearest multiple of $5 and give you cash back.

The scale of Jonestown is wild. I just watched the HBO docu series on Heaven’s Gate which it said was the largest mass suicide on US soil at ~40 people. Jonestown was over 20 times that. And obviously more of a murder-suicide. I realize som

I’m curious about this too. I definitely experience my endless inner monologue as “compulsive thinking.” Even when I have nothing interesting to think about my mind keeps chattering on endlessly and I find my thoughts in that state tend to

I cancelled my Starlink pre-order yesterday. I had been stuck on old satellite internet at the house (HughesNet) and was really excited about Starlink. I signed up for the beta as soon as I was eligible but didn’t get in, then pre-ordered o

Do you have a source for Matt "Everything is Securities Fraud" Levine being shocked by this? He seems like the last person I'd expect to be surprised by the SEC's broad mandate.

Similar with Jim Bakker[1]. The guy went to prison for fraud and went straight back to televangelism when he got out and sells buckets of freeze-dried food to his parishioners to prepare for the end times. https://en.m.wikipedia.
