It's vague because we don't know why you consider it to appear to be a globe. Did you fly in a rocket and saw it or do you just think that round is the perfect shape and God wouldn't create the world in any other way?

With postgres you could set up a read-only replica or something. At least for me, the small effort is well worth not having to worry about accidentally deleting production data. I feel like having an easy mechanism to clone the production d

Can't you run your queries in a copy of the data (eg.: a backup)? I think that'd be advisable even if you were running postgresql.

Isn't there a point that exploits for old systems just sort of disappear? Who will be targeting a windows 2000 system these days?

It would be interesting to see something similar at a city level, it may be even insightful for some cities.

There is a lot of complexity hidden in the R functions as well. The reason of using higher level languages with comprehensive standard libraries is exactly to abstract these things away. So, I think it's fair to say that, for this part

That may be true, but that doesn't mean that battle tested means nothing. There are plenty other logging libraries that have also been thoroughly tested. If you look for obscure logging libraries in c, c++ and even bash I wouldn't

I think the percentage give you a sense of familiarity. You're used to be graded 0-100 in exams and such. However, that grade is actually not that useful or intuitive as you may think, since you don't know how your game is scored.

Interesting, I find the exact opposite. Measuring things in terms of pawns give me a feel of how far behind I was from optimal play, whereas with the percentage, it's quite abstract. What does 70% accuracy mean?

I find game analysis in lichess much better than chess.com's. The advices it gives out are usually rubbish.

I don't think the matter is whether or not VPs are involved, but the fact that human sign off is required. Ideally the dashboard would accurately show what's working or not, regardless if the engineers know what's going on.

That's not exactly true. chess.com matches closer to FIDE in the 1400-2000 range and lichess matches in the 2000+ range, whereas chess.com gets inflated in that range. All in all, they are all different systems with different player ba

There is a way, the neighbors could install better insulation in their flats. They are not being generous with their heating, they are being wasteful. It's a good thing @kmm actually wants that heat. Otherwise it'd be a problem.

Not sure if capacity is the thing here. Using someone else's wifi does harm to that person. They will be deprived of bandwidth and, if they have a data limit, you may be using that up too. With light, what you're getting is just t
