Recently I've been much more pleased by the "Unreasonable Effectiveness of Ninja Plus A Few Trivial Scripts". A raw Ninja file is verbose but easy to read and understand, and there is basically no magic happening behind the s

Loved my Eee PC at the time. Just enough computer, cheap, small.

True, that's similar - but I wouldn't say that SQL alone is enough to build an application.

That works for the trivial example, but in a larger program I can't realistically say (a,b,c,d,e,f......zzz) = (....) to get the equivalent of an "atomic" update to the program's state.

Proxxon's Dremel-style multitool combined with the drill press stand works great and is much less single-use. Their mini-mill is also great. Avoid the Proxxon tiny circular saw though, it is utter junk.

Hi, I'm the author of MurmurHash and GateBoy, amongst other things. About 6 months ago I started working on a tool to convert GateBoy's source code (after "lifting" it into more standard C++) to Verilog. This project tur

Very rough guesstimates: 200000 * 200 * 2 = 80M tris/sec 200000 * 200 * 32x32px = 40 gpix/sec (if no occlusion culling) Neither of those numbers are particularly huge for modern GPUs. I'd wager that a compute shader + mesh s

8x8, so 64 4-luts and 64 flipflops? I'm not sure what I could build with that. Maybe a frequency counter with a SPI output, not much more.
