I had this same idea on an HN comment early this year lol. Part of my idea is to use desalinated water to build artificial lakes and rivers. Specifically, a river system along interstate highways, especially in the US west and alongside tha

I think that sienfeld episode had a huge impact. That's where I first heard of mutton and I wouldn't try it now unless in dire situations.

Simulation theory is not my invention, actual scientists have tested it and theorized with strong evidence. I would answer your question but not worth the downvotes like my original comment.

Hear me out, capital punishment should be allowed but the execution of each inmate should depend on a referendum at the polls. For example, new highway spending, municipal bond issuance and other stuff gets put on the ballot. Consent to tak

Most windows software uses utf16. This guy is used to web and *nix software where UTF-8 is popular. All your strings should default to UTF-16 on Windows so you don't have to deal with this against specific APIs. The longpath thing shou

I have yet to jump on the "LLM" bandwagon and think ML should be used sparingly but this is one thing I believe is a cause for applause. Humans like money and get bought off on such endeavors but ML doen't. Humans get bored a

I don't know if you all know this but you don't have to fix CVEs. If the software author won't issue a fix, you are supposed to have an exemption process to accept the non-existent risk. In my view, the CVE system is too str

All the serious exploits I keep seeing these days are not memory safety related. Although it does continue to be a plague I really must challenge CISA to back up their call for urgency with breach stats.

I'd rather use a stone tablet than freaking XML!! I will never understand your problem with it. JSON or YAML should be enough for 90% use cases. And INI or TOML the rest. Let the XML relic rest in peace please.
