I am very good at failing standard captchas on many sites. I always blamed Captchas as being to hard and not user friendly. This title got me wondering - maybe it was by design, and I am an idiot.

Depends on the definition of the term vegetarian. You can go with the "no meat, but fish and bugs allowed" definiton? I wonder why do we, as humans, consider eating bugs strange, and why haven't they evolved as a regular part of the modern

I would argue that there are only two important questions when considering which of the two approaches to take: what are you building, and who you are building it for. Everything else falls behind. Points like "but than I will have to build

One of the best things about this type of games is the unexpected results you can get. And I am not talking about Easter eggs or different endgames some mainstream games boast themselves with. I am talking about really unexpected game situa

The question now is will this be the Hindenburg moment of this type of services, or is it just a speed bump? We'll see how all this bad press is going to spread across the rest of the mainstream media and tabloids. I know we are all disappo

Yep, it works now. Looks really good. I wish all the best to everything made in Croatia. Small remark: it is not clear what this is about from the front page alone. The about us link at the bottom does a good job explaining it, however. May

"Microsoft hasn't had good products or good intentions in a very long time." No good products? Maybe we define "good" differently, but saying that MS hasn't had any good products for a very long time is just not true. Maybe this proves

How about social search? Sparks has a huge potential, doesn't it? Facebook's greatest strength is its huge social graph. However, they still didn't create a really valuable social search. Facebook can easily mimic google circles. But, who w

I had the opposite reaction: At first only a couple of close friends were in my circles, and it felt like a true social site. Even though many of us are miles and miles apart, we were sharing, talking, hanging out and posting. All this with

When I think about all the issues being addressed in many talks such as this, one thought comes to mind: "This is why we can’t have nice things." We have the technology, the skill and the knowledge to do so much we couldn't even dream about

Wouldn't using an external service also put you in the same risk? Or was that what you said too, but just mentioned the service as an example? Isn't the best option to have the domain you control list all the details you want, including the

Last summer, when I got one of the then best Android smart phones on the market, from all the cool features and interesting capabilities, the question I got asked the most was: "How many megapixels does it have?". It took me some time to ge

Do you think that we need companies like IBM? I mean, by the income metric Apple is obviously better than IBM. But, if there was no IBM, would the space be filled with multiple smaller and more profitable companies, or would there just be a

Not really directly connected, but in embedded systems you can actually see a lot of hardware software codesign approaches. There is an approach called NISC [1] (No Instruction Set Computer), where the instruction set is completely removed

My chain of thought while reading this article: 1. "It would be cool if I had a web app for this." 2. "Hey, I can build a web app for this." 3. "There must already be an app like this" 4. "In fact, I bet someone has already commented on HN

"they ought to clean up their very Web 1.0 UX" SO has one of the best UX on the web. I don't care if you call it Web 1.0, 2.0 or Blue Oranges 35, but don't clean it. And also - "clean up by letting people log in with Twitter and Facebook"?
