Preorders for the 9900K are 578$ USD. For that you can get a Ryzen 2700X, a nice motherboard and a 256GB SSD. Performance delta shouldn't be more than 15% deficit for the Ryzen for a few specific games.

Title is clickbait, 6 x performance gain is for ray tracing only, which is normal, Pascal cards didn't have the ray tracing muscle of the new cards.

It's so arrogant to assume that intelligent life here that is made of the 5 most common elements in the universe (C, H, O, N and Other) cannot arise in the myriad of other star systems out there.

10nm chips are delayed again. AMD is back on desktop and server. Those should be good enough reasons.

> Putting a Threadripper in a homeserver is overkill. Running 2 gaming VMs for me and my kids and one ubuntu WS on a 12 core Threadripper. Host is also doing file serving and runs Unifi controller. One server to rule them all.

"A step in the right direction" What semi-decent human being inside Uber came up with this? How can people still work for this evil company?

Why do you want to upgrade the 1700X? What does the 2000 line bring other than a 15% (being very optimistic) performance gain?

I set up my brother in-law's new HP laptop he got from Costco and I had to spend over 2 hours removing crap from it. The amount of crapware installed (and a lot of them are MS apps) is unreal.
